Call for Independent Scientific Reviewers for canSERV

September 13, 2024
Cancer canSERV

We are delighted to invite you to become a member of canSERV’s Independent Review Board (IRB) and help streamline European cancer research. The canSERV project aims to defragment the European cancer research landscape and is designed to strategically support groundbreaking research projects across the continent and beyond.

In a period of three years, canSERV is enabling academia and industry researchers to access state-of-the-art research services and support free-of-charge, ranging from basic science up to clinical translation. The goal is to accelerate break-through research and foster personalised medicine for cancer patients.

All services provided by participating infrastructures are bundled on one common platform, the canSERV catalogue. canSERV connects, coordinates, and aligns existing oncology and complementary Research Infrastructures (RIs) alongside providing services in a synergistic, transnational way. This capitalises on the critical mass of experts and cutting-edge services offered by canSERV RIs and their extended networks. During the three-year project, canSERV is organising different types of calls for project proposals: “Open calls”, with no limitations on the scope or topic, and “Challenge driven calls” focusing specific themes.

As a reviewer, you play a crucial role in evaluating proposals, ensuring the quality and impact of our initiatives. This is a great opportunity to shape the future of science education and collaborate with experts in the field.

For the IRB we are looking for individuals with expertise in cancer related fields. The IRB’s role is to assess the scientific merit of the proposed research projects and to recommend whether the project should be funded. A detailed description of the duties, workload, and deadlines are outlined below:

Duties:

• To provide scientific reviewing and feedback by evaluating the research proposal’s methodological soundness, the scientific excellence and potential impact and contribution to EU-wide society benefit based on the application form submitted, including a detailed description of the project of maximum five pages.

Workload:

• Each expert can review up to four applications per call. Each application is anticipated to be a maximum of 9000 characters.

Deadlines:

• In general, the experts will have two to four weeks to provide feedback.

Documentation:

• A short template agreement for confidentiality and conflict of interest will be signed.

All Participating Experts will receive a certificate from the canSERV project coordination stating their participation in canSERV

On behalf of the entire canSERV consortium, we hope that you will join the Independent Review Board (IRB) . Your participation will be greatly appreciated and will make a significant impact in our efforts to support the EU Cancer Mission and jointly beat cancer.

If you are interested in participating, please contact us at info@eurobioimaging.eu. Please Include:
