Euro-BioImaging Board and Panel of Nodes Meetings in Torino
On November 8-9, 2022, members of the Euro-BioImaging Hub Team had the pleasure of meeting with the Euro-BioImaging Board and Panel of Node in Torino, Italy. This was our first in-person meeting with our stakeholders since 2019. We enjoyed the feedback and chance for exchange with our Board members Node representatives. Representatives from 32 Nodes - including brand new UK & Slovenian Nodes - and all 17 Member States and Organisations were present in Torino and online. We were very pleased to have this time together to discuss the accomplishments and future strategy of Euro-BioImaging. Many thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to the Euro-BioImaging Med-Hub team for hosting us.
What is the Euro-BioImaging Board and what is its role?
The Euro-BioImaging Board is composed of representatives of Euro-BioImaging members (countries & EMBL). It is the principal decision-making body for the overall strategy and the policy for integrated operation and further development of Euro-BioImaging ERIC.
The Board meets at least twice a year and approves all strategic decisions. In addition, it oversees the performance of the Hub and Nodes with input from the Scientific Advisory Board and the Euro-BioImaging Directorate. Prof. Benjamin Geiger, of the Weizmann Institute in Israel, has been the Euro-BioImaging Board Chair since December 2019. He is supported by Jan Buriánek, from the Unit of Research Infrastructures of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, who was appointed Vice-Chair of the Euro-BioImaging ERIC Board in May 2021.
What is the Panel of Nodes and what is its role?
The Euro-BioImaging Panel of Nodes is composed of an official representative of each of the Euro-BioImaging Nodes. Its mission is to advise the Euro-BioImaging Directorate with regards to Euro-BioImaging Node activities. To do so, the Panel of Node Co-Chairs holds monthly meetings with the Euro- BioImaging Directorate. Marc van Zandvoort of the Advanced Microscopy and Multimodal Imaging (AMMI) Node, Maastricht, is the Chair of the Panel of Nodes and Julia Fernandez-Rodriguez of the Swedish National Microscopy Infrastructure Node is the co-chair.
