Great success of Euro-BioImaging’s Guide to FAIR BioImage Data 2024
Last month, on the 23rd of May 2024, we held the second edition of 'Euro-BioImaging's Guide to FAIR BioImage Data', a free online workshop for everyone. Together we learned and discussed FAIR practices in bioimaging with an even larger audience than last year. If you missed it, no worries! You can now check out the recordings and open training materials.
Organised and led by our FAIR Image Data Steward and made possible by the BY-COVID project, we were able to host “Euro-BioImaging’s Guide to FAIR BioImage Data” this year for the second time. In this three-hour long, free for all online workshop, we discussed the FAIR principles and learned about easy steps towards FAIR bioimaging data, explored bioimage repositories and touched specialised topics such as preclinical data and next-generation file formats.
With 123 participants in 32 countries from all around the globe, we were thrilled to see so many people interested in this important topic. New this year, we've introduced a series of practical and interactive exercises around different aspects of FAIR bioimaging data. From selecting metadata and repositories for specific dataset to writing a data management plan, these exercises provided an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and get participants started on their personal FAIR journey.
"They [the practical exercises] were absolutely fantastic to put in practice what we learnt and interact with people.”
“You took these amazing meetings to the next level”
- Workshop participants
Today, we are excited to share that, just like last year, we uploaded the recordings of the fantastic lectures to YouTube for everyone to enjoy. And as a bonus, we also made the exercises available for anyone who missed out so you can work through the course at your own pace.
“In the spirit of FAIR, I made an effort to also make the training materials as FAIR as possible so that even more people can benefit from the workshop”
- Isabel Kemmer, FAIR Image Data Steward and organiser of the event.
Thanks to the huge interest in this year’s event, we plan to hold it again next year. What would you like to see at the next one? Any specific topic you have in mind and would like us to cover? Write us your ideas at fairdata@eurobioimaging.eu.
