Brno Node Events Multimodal Imaging Neuroscience Virtual Pub

Our next Special Edition Virtual Pub, “Multiscale Imaging in the Neurosciences,” organized in collaboration with EBRAINS, will take place on Friday, October 27. At this event, we will explore the potential areas of collaboration between EBRAINS and Euro-BioImaging and highlight the expertise of selected Euro-BioImaging Nodes in the Neuroscience domain.

When: October 27, 2023, from 13:00-15:00 CEST

Where: Online

At this event, Michal Mikl explains the full range of neuroimaging services available at Euro-BioImaging’s Advanced Light and Medical Imaging Node, Brno. Join us on Friday, October 27, to hear this talk and others like it.

Abstract

Introduction of human neuroimaging in Euro-BioImaging’s Brno Node

Michal Mikl Advanced Light and Medical Imaging Node, Brno

Multimodal and Functional Imaging Laboratory (MAFIL) is a core facility within Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Masaryk University. It is a part of Brno Euro-BioImaging node, and it is the only open access research facility in the field of human imaging in the Czech Republic. MAFIL was built primarily for neuroscience research purposes, therefore it combines MRI (two 3T Siemens Prisma scanners) with electrophysiological methods (EEG and related physiological signals, noninvasive neuromodulation techniques). Because of strong focus on functional MRI (fMRI), MAFIL is equipped with many MR compatible accessories that facilitate sensory stimulation, behavioral response recording (e.g., buttons or tablet) and various physiology response recording (e.g., ECG, EEG, breath, eye tracking). MAFIL offer few rare techniques. These are real-time fMRI neurofeedback, dual fMRI (hyperscanning; two participants measured simultaneously during mutual interaction). MAFIL is equipped with many MR compatible accessories that facilitate sensory stimulation, behavioral response recording (e.g., buttons or tablet) and various physiology response recording (e.g., ECG, EEG, breath, eye tracking). There is wide community of users in Brno region, covering medical disciplines (study of neurological and psychiatric disorders, oncological studies), psychological projects with brain mapping techniques, technically focused projects, and various interdisciplinary topics.
