iScience Backstory on Euro-BioImaging
Euro-BioImaging has published an article “Euro-BioImaging – Interdisciplinary research infrastructure bringing together communities and imaging facilities to support excellent research” in open access journal iScience to highlight the many different facets of collaboration within our network – from bringing together almost 150 imaging facilities with more than 500 imaging specialists to building bridges to other research infrastructures through interdisciplinary projects such as CORBEL.
The article also tells how researchers can learn from each other through collaboration – whether they are experts jointly developing new applications and correlative approaches combining different imaging technology, or early career researchers that gain their first experience working with cutting-edge equipment and receive training that might shape their future career paths.
The latter part is illustrated by examples how companies, and in particular the Euro-BioImaging Industry Board, can contribute to training and knowledge sharing: a collaboration with University of Turku and Abo Akademi offers internships in industry to MSc students, and participation of company specialists to the Euro-BioImaging expert groups.
The article will be part of a special issue “Light for Life” aiming to highlight the emerging stream of optical imaging technologies and its application to study structure-function relationships and near molecular scale dynamics.
