Guide to FAIR BioImage Data
Overview
One of Euro-BioImaging's missions is to promote and facilitate the adoption of FAIR practices relevant to image data. To this end, we provide open resources and training to the entire imaging community and beyond.
In 2023 we have launched the 'Euro-BioImaging's Guide to FAIR BioImage Data' series of events, which is all about introducing the FAIR principles in the context of bioimaging and providing you with simple yet effective steps for a smooth start to your FAIR journey. By attending these workshops, you will no longer find FAIR to be an intimidating concept that you have been putting off. Instead, you will be equipped with the knowledge and resources to identify and make the necessary adjustments to take your bioimaging data to the next level.
Audience
Depending on the scope of each event, these workshops are aimed at both facility staff looking for ways to motivate and support instrument users to acquire high quality FAIR data, and individual researchers who want to learn simple and effective steps to get started with FAIR. We invite anyone working at any scale of bioimaging, from molecules to humans, at any stage of their career.
Planned Events
Thanks to the great interest in these events, we are planning to hold one again next year. What would you like to see at the next one? Do you have a particular topic in mind that you would like us to cover? Send us your ideas at fairdata@eurobioimaging.eu.

Past Events:
The most recent "Euro-BioImaging's Guide to FAIR BioImage Data" took place in 2024 on Tuesday, May 23rd from 14:00-17:00 CEST.
This year, in addition to a theory-based overview of the FAIR principles and repositories, we've introduced a series of practical and interactive exercises to provide hands-on experience of various aspects of FAIR bioimaging data.
The first event of "Euro-BioImaging's Guide to FAIR BioImage Data" took place in 2023 on March 28th from 14:00–17:30 CEST.
We discussed the FAIR principles and learned about simple steps towards FAIR bioimaging data, and touched on special topics such as next-generation file formats and AI-ready data. We also explored bioimage repositories and presented two user stories, in which scientists described their journey to data deposition.
